Mission Statement

MADA

To enhance the lives of the young people in Southeast San Diego through music education as a deterrent to the drugs and violence that are prevalent in our communities.

MADA's Vision

- Provide a cross-cultural, interdisciplinary project with emphasis on music and creativity as alternatives to alcohol, tobacco, drugs and gangs which infest the Southeast San Diego community.

-Provide a choral music curriculum and other resource services for children and youth, including those disadvantaged and physically challenged.

-Provide a choral music program as a means of enhancing the self-esteem of local children and youth.

- Provide encouragement and development for young musicians and vocal artists, and involve more youth in positive activities.

-Provide wider access to a quality creative experience, which might otherwise not be available, by providing music instruction (vocal and instrumental) to all participants.

-Cooperate with other community organizations and local artists to provide a musical performance which showcases the talents of all program participants.

-Make participants aware of their own potential for creative self-expression, and foster a continuing interest in music and arts.

-Develop culturally relevant and artistic activities for youth and their families that promote positive self and family esteem; expose youth to positive images; and encourage communication and understanding between different cultures and ethnic groups.
