George and Robbie Hill, owners of Nae~ Nae’s Music and Resource Center, had a strong desire to do something positive
for the young men of the southeastern San Diego area. As a result, they founded the MADA Boys Choir in March, 1997.
Each member of the choir is required to train in the area of music.
The MADA Boys Choir has performed at various community events throughout the San Diego area, including the Encanto Street Fair, Coca-Cola Holiday Caravan, The Martin Luther King Day Parade, Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcalá, the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for The Cultural Art Center, and the Balboa Park Gospelfest, to name a few.
You may be wondering what MADA means? MADA is Adam spelled backwards. This unique name was given to the choir by Dr. Timothy Winters, Pastor of Bayview Baptist Church.
Adam was the beginning of mankind, and MADA is the beginning of change for the young men of Southeast San Diego.
In March, 1998, the Choir was incorporated as a Non-Profit Public Benefit Corporation under the name of SE/SD MADA Children/Youth Community Choir, Inc. (SE/SD=Southeastern/San Diego).
An acronym for the word MADA was developed by the President of the Board of Directors of the MADA Community Choir, Mr. Lynwood Taylor.

The MADA Girls Choir was formed in September, 1998. The MADA Girls Choir made its debut with the MADA Boys Choir at the Gold Coast Classic in 1998.
The goal of the MADA Choirs is to recruit young men and women from the southeast San Diego and surrounding areas, and provide spiritual and educational support in a positive, nurturing environment.
The MADA program has expanded its curriculum through its teachers and volunteers to include both math and science tutoring to further prepare the young men and women for higher learning and personal enrichment.
The organization’s name was changed in November, 2001, to San Diego Young Artists Music Academy, Inc.
